A voice for animals ~ rescues, retirement, advocacy
The way we treat animals reflects on our culture and sends a message to the world about how we view ourselves. Far from taking away resources from humans in need, studies show that how people treat animals is a pretty good indicator of how they will will treat other humans. Teaching and modeling compassion to our children is key for our survival as a species.
There's so much need for responsible breeding and retirement for animals. There's not enough room on this site to list all the great organizations doing good work. I meet amazing people every day who "get it." Below is a legislative project I am working on for the horses. I hope you can help.
I hear stories from the animals who come to rescues. Even when the animal finds a safe home, it's easy for us - their person - to hold on to the old story, as humans do, holding on to the story of how they were wronged, losing the present moment, out of a feeling that this is the compassionate way to be.
Victim energy is weak. Nothing is stronger than love. While we need to take right action - engaging law enforcement and improving legislation - and we will always have human emotions to what happens out there, holding onto the old story of the rescued animal, that story will frame us and hold the space for stuck, weak energy. Good, healthy, strong, healing energy is moving, weaving, becoming, transforming, miraculous!
It's no coincidence that the archangels, the archetypes and warriors of our ancient stories worked with the sword of love. Power and love are not incompatible. The eastern warrior archetype accomplishes the most with the least effort, then returns to balance, and understands that not every battle needs to be won to be victorious.
So love and celebrate your rescued animals for who they are right now, and hold the space for their strong soul. Working holistically, with energy medicine, flower essences, natural training, playfulness, good food, compassion, love and companionship, and fun, together we can hold the space for miracles. Believe, love, play and transform! Thank you for all you do to support compassionate treatment of all beings and hug your horses.
How You Can Help American Horses - in 2009
Please visit Alex Brown Racing see how you can help pass Federal legislation to stop the inhumane transport and slaughter of American horses by offshore corporations. The horse slaughter industry's unrepentant cruelty has operated under the public radar for way too long due to the efforts of a small but powerful lobby donating to key members of Congress.
We are calling for every voice for democracy, for change to stand together for the horses. We are a non funded independent grass roots organizers - urging the Senate and Congress to listen to the overwhelming majority of Americans who want this legislation to be signed into law.
All it takes is a few minutes a week and a desire to make a difference for those who need us to speak for them. Thank you for your time.
