Susan Hamlin ~ Celtic & Folk Music

Susan Hamlin - music - image

Somewhere 'round the time my parents brought home a puppy to raise me up I started to sing. The puppy and I lived on the floor together. I'd drag a chair over to the record player to hear music and we'd sing.

Little did I know that music would grow into a lifelong passion and carry me across the US and beyond as a touring performer of roots and original music.

Years later, I was honored to bring my dear dogs, Luther and later Sundance Kid, to the recording studios where these CDs were made. They made friends with everybody, robbed a few lunches and made peace with the lifestyle of a touring musician. They even learned to live with the bagpipes.

Sunny was about a year old and slept at my feet during the singing of the recording you're hearing now. The cello was the weave of Dolphins, or so we imagined as we made the music.

Dolphins met the boat, dancing and guiding them as the tune with the weaving dolphin cello played. With gratitude for our brothers and sisters of the sea, for their songs and guidance, and for their listening ears.

Original, traditional and folk songs of America and Ireland. From the humorous "New Age Swing" co-written with former Bitchin' Babe Camille West to a recording of the Irish Gaelic "Raftery" to Susan's award-winning "Mountain Waters."

"Every now and then you come across a simple pleasure that must be shared… about one of the real talents in folk music today. The guest artist list, in addition to Susan's silken playing and singing, makes this one of my favorite CDs in a rather eclectic collection. Susan's voice is haunting and true and the playing precise, yet heartfelt. Susan considers herself an 'unreconstructed folkie.' You don't need to be one to fall in love with this music." -- Briefme.com
